The
Chobham and District Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1981 with the
merger of an older Chobham Tennis Club (previously based at Flexlands
School) and Woodham Tennis Club (previously playing at Martyr's
Lane). This productive union enables the Club to sustain the variety
of Junior and Senior Tennis that characterises the Club today.
The Club currently
has 100 Senior Playing Members and over 70 Juniors on its roll (including
around half from the local Parish). The Juniors range from 5-19
and Seniors range from 15-60+. Those catered for range from Junior
and Senior beginners through to a Junior county squad player and
a number of seasoned League Tennis veterans.
The Summer schedule
consists of 5 senior club sessions plus junior-senior club sessions,
mens singles, ladies singles, mens doubles, ladies doubles and mixed
doubles tournaments. The Winter schedule consists of 3 senior club
sessions plus club leagues for singles and mixed doubles. Regardless
of the season, the club also has active teams in the Woking league.
The club's membership options and programme cater for fair weather
occasional players and year round enthusiasts alike.
