Rhapsody play University of Surrey for "Help Dan"
Rhapsody! Queen Tribute Band - charity event

University of Surrey Rubix, 8pm £20 full/senior citizens, £15 concessions http://www.guildfordinternationalmusicfestival.co.uk/mar-24.htm http://www.guildfordinternationalmusicfestival.co.uk/mar-24.htm

Festival Box Offices: 01483 444 334 / 444 789 or in person from Record Corner, Pound Lane, off Godalming High Street

Rhapsody is the foremost Queen tribute band in the UK, and this performance at the Surrey University Students’ Union has special significance. The band is sponsoring the work of Daniel Eley, who has done extensive volunteering with street children in Latin America .

Dan Eley, 33,broke his neck in a diving accident in South America just over a year ago while working with street children in Colombia. 8,000 people around the world joined a Facebook appeal group to help him after the accident raising £90,000 for an air ambulance to get him home.

He was paralysed from the elbows down and back in UK ,he had intensive treatment at Stoke Mandeville Hospital’s specialist spinal unit and is now receiving 24-hour care at Hydon Hill Cheshire Home, near Godalmin., where he has used voice recognition aids to create his own fundraising website http://www.danieleley.org/ . His treatment includes functional electrical stimulation bike, which works on the muscles, as well as hydrotherapy sessions all paid for by 'Help Dan' appeal. He sais "I have some movement in my left arm, which means I can drink and feed myself,""I am extremely grateful to all those individuals, many of whom I still don't know personally, who have shown such solidarity during difficult times for me.""Such stories have inspired me to pursue my dream of setting up a foundation for disadvantaged children and teenagers from marginalised communities in Colombia."

He hopes to go in his wheelchair to University of Surrey on March 24, when the Queen tribute band, Rhapsody, will be playing in aid of the appeal, organised Dave Clarke, acoustic guitar and backing vocals with the band.
