TRIALS “NEW IMPROVED” COURSE
New golf course layout is well received
Players at Milford Golf Club near Godalming have a new
challenge from this month – playing at what will seem
like a “new” club!
Milford GC has made the unusual decision to juggle the
layout of the golf course. For a two month trial period,
there will be temporary course signage and cards to help
players get to grips with the new course layout, as, for
example, the 1st hole becomes the 11th, and the 10th becomes
the 1st.
The changes will make the whole golf experience at the
popular local club “more sociable”. The 1st
tee will be directly in front of the clubhouse after the
changes, which will make for a great atmosphere on competition
days.
Rebecca Prout, General Manager of Milford Golf Club, said:
“At Milford, we very much work as a team with our
members. For a while, the Members’ Committee, backed
by some of our founder members, have wanted to change the
order in which the holes at Milford are played. After consultation
with all our members, our Head PGA Professional Paul Creamer
and the greenkeeping team, we have decided to try out a
new layout.
“There has been a really positive response to the
planned changes, and some members feel they are getting
a new golf course!
“We will celebrate the “new” course on
2 July at our Men’s Captain’s Day, and have
our fingers crossed that the changes will be as well-received
in practice as they are in theory!”
