NEWS FROM GUILDFORD COLLEGE
GUILDFORD COLLEGE INVITES LOCAL BUSINESS TO LEARN ABOUT EXCITING NEW APPRENTICESHIPS INITIATIVE
Following the success of the College’s first ever Apprenticeship Open Evening in February, Services to Business at Guildford College are gearing up for an exciting summer, with a number of new Apprenticeships opportunities for Guildford businesses and the local economy.
Working in partnership with Guildford Borough Council and the Guildford Business Forum, Services to Business has developed a new Apprenticeship incentive scheme for local businesses. The key aims of the scheme are to raise the profile of Apprenticeships in the local area and also provide an incentive for local employers to take on an apprentice.
The initiative is comprised of two elements. Firstly, once an eligible employer has committed to take on an individual, Services to Business will provide a free two-week industry-related induction to include relevant legislation-driven training valued at £700 per person. This two week pre-apprenticeship programme will be offered in a range of key areas.
The second part of the initiative comprises an enhanced recruitment process - over and above the current National Apprenticeship Service, whereby the College will create a waiting list of potential "job ready" Apprenticeship applicants, ready to be interviewed by interested employers.
This substantially reduces the administration process in recruiting an apprentice, meaning they can start work more quickly.
The event will also be an opportunity to celebrate the College being chosen as one of just three training providers in the country to be involved in piloting a brand new Social Digital Media Apprenticeship, designed to bring real innovation and growth to local businesses.
Combined with the new £1,500 Apprenticeship Grant for small to medium sized employers, summer 2012 is proving to be the time for local employers to ‘Get with Apprenticeships’.
To find out more about each of these initiatives, reserve your place at the College’s event ‘Five Good Reasons to Take on an Apprentice’ on Wednesday 18 April 2012, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Guildford College. You can reserve your place by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org, calling: 01483 44 85 30 or visiting www.servicestobusiness.net
